Biography

ELYSE CLAIRE LODERMEIER

-is a multi-disciplinary artist currently located in Saint Paul, MN. They received their Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and a minor in art history from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2020. Between 2022 to the summer of 2026 Lodermeier was a part of Public Functionary as a community studio artist and volunteer. They are currently establishing a home studio practice and exploring multimedia work using beads and textiles. 

Creating art acts as a form of translation and reflection to Lodermeier as she navigates her personal relationship with the world through the lens of her own Korean diaspora. In the process of searching for the nameable in identity, Lodermeier creates paintings and mixed media pieces that act as artifacts to her experiences. Leaning into intense emotion that seems to constantly follow Lodermeier in life, she reflects and attempts to make sense of the constant cycles of grief, gratitude, and what it means to constantly feel like you are standing at the border of belonging and displacement.
